The Carlos Gilbert PTK has partnered with Earth Care to host an After School Green Team and Garden Club on Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:15. During cold months of winter, students in grades 3-6 will use Project Learning Tree's Green Schools programming to conduct service-learning activities on campus that benefit both the school and the environment. In the spring, all grades will be welcome to garden outside, growing and tasting healthy local food and learning about healthy ecosystems.

There was a great turnout for Girls Basketball this year--enough for two full teams. Very exciting!
The A Squad finished the season with a 4 and 4 record. The B Squad girls tied for 2nd during the regular season with a 5-3 record. And they came in 3rd in the tournament this weekend, beating El Camino Real Wildcats by a score of 19 to 6. The A Squad girls took 3rd in the tournament as well. Go Blackhawks!
Calling all boys and girls who would like to play volleyball! No experience is necessary. Ms. Coon and Jodi Stumbo (Tori's mom) have the skill set to teach our Carlos Gilbert Blackhawks how to play volleyball. The GCCC league starts in late January or early February through April. The practices are 2x a week for one hour of fun-filled drills and scrimmages. The games are on Saturdays with a local tournament at SFHS. The cost is $50 paid to GCCC. Depending on the interest of our students, we will sort out age groups later! Please contact Ms. Coon or Jodi Stumbo ( firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
Tryouts will be held for 5th and 6th graders on Monday, November 21 from 5-6:30 in the gym, and for 3rd and 4th graders on Tuesday, November 22 from 5-6:30 in the gym. We will place 15 players on each team, so if we have more than 45 participants, we may need to open a fourth team. If that is the case, we will need a coach for that team. Go Blackhawks!
