Green Team Water Assessment

posted Dec 11, 2018, 2:35 PM by Jessie Lawrence
From January 15 - March 12, Tuesdays, 3-4 p.m., the Green Team will take a break from garden activities and complete an upper grade school investigation. Last year, their waste reduction/recycle investigation led up to the start of the school's lunch composting program. This year, the Green Team is looking for up to twelve 3rd - 6th graders to complete an investigation on water use and water conservation ideas. Activities may include field trips and guest speakers. The team's findings and ideas will be presented to the PTK, school principal, and SFPS Green - Sustainability Department to help make CGE's campus as earth friendly as possible.
If you are interested in having your 3rd - 6th grade student join us, complete this form and return to the Greenteam/Earthcare mailbox in the front office by Monday, January 7th. If you have any questions, please call Lynette at 920-0409.

Sustainability education continues at CGE, led by Ruby Lopez of Earthcare. This school year, Ruby is providing sustainability education in all five 1st and 2nd grade classrooms two Tuesday's per month, including a fun aquaponics model were fish feed the plants! Ruby also leads our afterschool Green Team club, which is open to all grades and has been meeting Tuesdays, 3-4 pm, in the school garden (or the art room when it's too cold or wet). They have been busy working on various garden projects and garden-related art projects this fall. Garden activities will resume in March after the Water Assessment.
